The Cornelius village inn was... Well, there's a reason it was short-lived. Down east, pizza inn is similar.

For a sorta newer place (aka not 30 years nostalgia old) Moondogs in Morganton is worth it if your going through there. Still a couple village inns around catawba county I believe. Not sure if the one in Bethlehem is still open. Truly if CC's still lives then so should village inn.

Anyone tried pizza from Lost Province Brewing up in Boone that's in front of the library?

Outside of there, 828 Family Pizzeria (Formerally Marco's until the inferior Marcos' Pizza chain came in and made them change it) in Asheville is the place to go for me.

Bethelem VI still open. It was one I hit this fall after a game. They have a history of the chain on the wall up to time of article.

All of the Village Inn locations here in Hickory seem to still be going pretty strong. I occasionally drive by the old teepee location on Hwy 70 West and remember loving that spot as a child...
Is that the one that used to be in the same shopping strip as Sky City and across from Hickory Mall?
The same! Referencing Sky City is pretty much as far back as my memory bank goes. I vaguely remember my mom taking me there when I was super young to buy a hot dog and a Matchbox car - life was simpler then. I don't think anything has been in that old VI space since the fire that burnt VI out in the first place many years ago. It looks "fine" from the front but the area is less than pleasant these days and at least half of the spaces in that strip center are unoccupied. The old Hickory/Catawba Mall across the street has been through quite a few incarnations over the years since Valley Hills Mall opened and Catawba dried up, but seems to have finally found its footing as a giant UHaul Rental/Storage facility...does good business.

If you ever get down to Greenville, SC, Grimaldi's Pizzeria is good pizza. It's a chain out of NY, but there aren't many in the southern US.

Had a pizza there New Year’s Eve. I thought it was really good.

The Grayson wings at Elevation are stellar.

If you want a big pizza and in the Triad then give Marco's Pizza a try. Good NY style which I like. A large is so big it did not fit in the trunk of my car, a subcompact for sure but still a huge pie.

Saw someone mention Village Inn. So nostalgic. Every Friday at App, we'd drive down the mtn to the one in Wilkesboro. There is still one there, but it moved locations.

Yes I hit the new location in Wilkesboro over the summer while I was camping at W Kerr Scott, which is a very nice facility and would love to camp there in the fall on a football Saturday.
