Great news for Charlotte!

A 25-30k stadium near uptown would be perfect. I don’t see the Charlotte team replicating the stadium sized support we’ve seen in ATL at Mercedes-Benz.

Dallas has a really nice purpose built field but it’s all the way up in Frisco and it shows when you see their crowds. Hopefully Tepper doesn’t make the same mistake.
That stadium in Frisco held the FCS NC for a couple years, no clue if it still does (and I'm too lazy to look it up). It looked like a good little stadium for smaller, but loud, crowds. Something like that would work well here in Charlotte metro. I don't see much of a chance that an MLS squad consistently fills up BofA, but we can dream!

Finally. Not so sure voters will appropriate 100MM from the hotel/motel tax to upfit the stadium but would assume Tepper has a back-up plan.

This is a win for the CLT area any way you slice it. Yeah, MLS may not be the level of the euro stuff but watching is still good and another rivalry with ATL will be exciting but expect they will eat our lunch for a few years.
I don't get why voters are upset about the Tourism fund being used here. It's literally what it's there for. Not coming out of the tax payers pockets.

The stadium is awesome. The location sucks.

Would be like putting the Charlotte MLS stadium in Huntersville.

Yes, you’ll get the youth soccer crowd. But you’ll miss out on the millennials that the MLS so desperately craves.

Put that stadium where say, Memorial stadium in Elizabeth is, and it’ll kill.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH HUNTERSVILLE???

(says the guy currently sitting in Huntersville)

I get your point about millennials and putting the stadium somewhere within Charlotte city center (or closer). I was fearful they would put it in Fort Mill or Rock Hill (based on all the Panthers moves lately), which would have been a massive failure.

Could they possibly build a stadium on the old practice fields by the Panthers stadium? Keep everything close for Tepper.

Honestly, I hope Charlotte is good. I'd love to see a real rivalry develop between Nashville, Atlanta, and Charlotte, instead of the forced "rivalry" between Atlanta and Orlando.

Name preferences?? I personally like Queen City FC or Charlotte Athletic FC. FC Charlotte also has a nice ring to it.

MLS does not allow nicknames, so Queen City is out.

I think Charlotte FC is the most likely choice. I'm fine with Charlotte Athletic or Charlotte Crown FC as well. Not a fan of any of the other options.

I'd be fine with any of the names presented thus far as options but part of me is hoping that something has been trademarked behind the scenes, out of public light, that will make for a surprise name...

In keeping with the original naming theme of MLS, why not call it Athletico Charlotte (since MLS really liked naming some clubs after European teams)?
