Saw them do this at The Shed in Maryville, TN in July. Best live band I've ever seen.

Re: Best Live Music Performance
David Allen Coe Oct. 1998 Iron Horse Saloon in Daytona. He opened for Charlie Daniels but Coe stole the show. My future wife and I sat on back of my Harley and watched both shows, cool place.
Worst had to be George Jones early 80's in a field outside of Boone. played poor 30 minutes got on his bus and left. The rest of the day was great. I remember Dr. Hook put on a good show that day. Ole George sucked though.

Re: Best Live Music Performance
I can't believe I left this out: Rally Weekend, Spring of 1974. Edgar Winter Group, Mountain, James Gang, Roy Buchanan. Two nights of good, nasty rock and roll and only $6.00 a ticket!
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Speaking of music, take a listen to Rick Wakeman's (of Yes) Rock n Roll Hall of Fame speech:

I’m a huge classic rock fan, but personally can’t stand Boston. I instantly change the station when the come on. I’m really not sure why I despise them so much.

They played Legends again in ‘03 or ‘04, great show.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 6:33 pmThe Wailers of Bob Marley fame played at Legends in 88 or 89. That was the best live performance I saw in Boone.
Obviously the band at that time was not what it was while Bob Marley was alive and even earlier when Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer were involved but still some good reggae, which is not the most common sound in the mountains of North Carolina.

Re: Best Live Music Performance
AC DC Stiff Upper Lip tour 2001 Charlotte- Angus was incredible
The Roots (Circa 2005 in what used to be Center City Fest Charlotte)- they played for 2 hours straight without stopping. I met DJ 9th Wonder in the crowd, he and Little Brother were supposed to open for The Roots but didn’t for some reason.
The Wailers at Legends in 2004
And the winner.......
The Band of Distinction 2005 Chattanooga TN
Seen a lot of other bands live, but none had the cache of these events.

I'm the same way. It's not that they're not good, I just heard them over the years so often, over and over and over and I too change the station.appstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 9:36 amI’m a huge classic rock fan, but personally can’t stand Boston. To each his own for sure. What made it a great show was the set. They played their hits and then played the entire album in order with a huge pipe organ that was used for some of the parts. It was in the Dean Dome which has fantastic acoustics.scatman77 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 10:27 amI'm the same way. Well having come up during the Classic Rock & Roll Era (60s/70s) I have seen many great shows, however my wife holds the title in our household - She saw The Stones on their American tour in Virginia Beach in 1966

Another one from the opposite end of the spectrum.
Winter of 73-74 (don’t remember the date) Seals and Croft got delayed hours by a blizzard. After buying tickets and waiting hours they finally played....about 45 minutes and left. England Dan and John Ford Coley played before them. The natives were angry that night, my friend.

I’ve been to a lot of concerts. None compared live to Aerosmith and Jimmy Buffet
