Stanley Cup

Unread post by NewApp » Sat Jun 15, 2019 2:08 pm

Anyone else watch the Stanley Cup Championship game the other night? The Bruins out played the Blues but lost anyway. The Blues' goalie should have been MVP. Blues had an interim coach who took over when they were in last place and took them to the Stanley Cup. Rookie goalie saved the game.
After watching several Checkers games with my then 12/13 year old the past two years, Hockey has become my second favorite sport.

Blues were nasty but anytime Boston loses justifies being nasty.

I love hockey. Since DG was a college hockey player. I asked him about a varsity team at App. (Not happening anytime soon) Given their colors, Im a Pittsburgh Penguins fan.

Outplayed them and were down 4-0 before the late goal with the extra attacker? Admittedly I didn’t watch the whole game, but that seems like a stretch.

Disagree with you about the Bruins outplaying the Blues. Blues were much more complete team and played better than anyone on the road. Glad the win came against a Boston based team.

Bruins were on offense most of the game and Blues got very few shots on goal.

Bruins may have the best power play I’ve ever seen, and I have grown up with and played hockey. But I also think they are floppers and will do anything to get those “odd man situations”. Good for the Blues for coming out and physically beating the tar out of them. Carolina should’ve done that and established I better mental hold on them, instead they withered under Boston’s experience.

Good series, great playoffs overall, Go Checkers/Canes!

NHL hockey is the best professional live action sport to watch in person.

Personal Opinion - Brad Marchand is the biggest douchebag in hockey and anytime he loses, it is a good day.

Not a bad year for professional hockey in North Carolina.

The Hurricanes were one of the last 4 standing. The Checkers won it all in the AHL and had the best regular season record in that league as well. The Thunderbirds in W-S won the Federal Hockey League tournament and had the best record in the league and had a 22 or 23 game win streak at one point. The Fayetteville Marksmen in the SPHL was 8 or 10 in the league but had a winning record and did at least make the playoffs.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Love to see the hockey talk! Hockey was the first sport I was ever invested in and still a first love to this day. Big fan of the Canes/Checkers but have to thank Gretzky being in LA when I was a kid in Irvine to really pull me into hockey.

Would love to see App with a hockey team but the money just isn't there.

App has a club hockey team

https://appstateicehockey.wixsite.com/a ... ice-hockey
My understanding is that the club team has come and gone over the years. I'm glad they have one at this point but it's up to the kids playing to keep the team going and funding it. That's hard to do when you don't have a rink close or the money coming in from being in the NCAA. Penn State and Arizona State have recently added ice hockey as 'varsity' sports. I think the pull of playing in the south could recruit some talent to Boone but we just don't have the donors to pull it off. If I ever win the lottery then that would change though!
