2019 Panthers thread

Well, after 2 games, it's clear that Cam is not healthy. You don't call a sneak with a half a yard to go? No reasonable explanation for that.

If he is not healthy, it's another wasted season, especially with that Swiss cheese OLine.

He’s plenty healthy, their trying to make a duel threat QB a pocket passer and that’s never been his strength. Without the run threat, he’s average in a good day. That, plus Cams an emotional player, and he needs a good run every now and then to get going. Take that away, and you got confidence problems. Let the man run some, yes he could get hurt, but at least he would be good while out there. #FreeCamsLegs

I'm going to hold onto him in fantasy, but on the bench going forward. Started him this week (Figured, Tampa Bay why not), and he did better for me than last week, but I need those TDs.

Until they find an offensive line, a defensive line, and a whole new secondary, they're going to stink. Luke is about the only guy on defense that can tackle. Their safeties can't tackle anybody from one knee and their DBs can't cover anybody. I don't know if Cam's hurt or not, but he has to run to be effective, and he's never going to be the most accurate QB, especially if he won't stick to the proper mechanics they've worked on with him. When he steps into his throws, you can tell a huge difference. It's going to be a long season.

Cam's ship has sailed. It left the dock the moment he refused to dive on his own fumble.

It used to be every other year, at least they are more consistent now.

I will gave Cam one more week to show he's good to go. Just because they had a short week (Sunday game to a Thursday game) to make any big adjustments. Playing Arizona next, so they should do well.

If not, Cam is done and Ron is done and it'll be time for a new era in Panther football. Bottom line.

Cam is and never has been a traditional drop back pocket passer. His MVP year included about 50% passing. I think most fans accepted that number because he made up for it by running. Granted the offensive line is not good but he hurries throws, never rolls out (probably can't throw on the run) and has apparently stopped trying to bulldoze guys like in the past. That one play said it all. They needed half a yard so they went shotgun and ran some goofy play with CMC. At least put Armah in the backfield for crying out loud. Cam competed 24 out of 50 freaking attempts last night and probably 15 were check downs.

Cam’s a clown on the field and off. At least he’s got his fashion career... :?

3 games under 500 since their inception. 25 years of mediocrity.

Some of those 26 he missed weren't even close - like 15 yards off. And it can't be a bad route, because he threw it 15 yards oob (not trying to just throw it away, either). He made some decent passes - it's not like he doesn't have some talent. But he's just not going to fit in this system if he isn't able to run.

I don't care what he wears off the field. From all accounts, he's a pretty good human being. I mostly like the way he represents the team and area (he's never in trouble, works with kids, etc). I just want him to be 100% healthy and play decent ball.

I'm going to disagree on the assessment he's a clown off the field - other than the locker room fashion. He does a WHOLE LOT of good around the city of Charlotte and stays out of trouble. Very generous with his time and money, but most people only want to think of the laptop incident in college. He's come a long ways in that respect.

I was at the game last night... frustrating all around. Every Panthers fan in the stadium was beyond frustrated. This team is stacked on paper, but it just isn't translating to the field. Defense had another good game. Not incredible, but certainly not at all bad. I think both of these games, the defense has been getting gassed late in the game because the offense can't sustain a drive.

I've always been a big Cam fan, but he's not right. He looks like he doesn't have any energy out there, so the whole offense looks lethargic. He's missing wide open receivers, he's barely running at all, and he just looked disinterested. Not sure if it's physical injury, coaching staff, or mental at this point, but this is far from what I expected from this Panthers team this year. Losing at home in primetime to a Bucs team led by Jameis Winston (who had lost 14 straight road games) is inexcusable. It hurts me to my core, but we might have seen the tipping point last night for what's going to end up being a regime change. It's a crying shame that it looks like we're not going to hoist a Lombardi with Cam, Luke, and Rivera.

Just watch the press conference with Cam. He seems like he doesn't really want to play. Same old line over and over. I have to do better. We have to do better. I think he is perfectly okay with not running the ball. A top tier QB would step up and voice his opinion on certain play calls. Years ago that half yard deal was in the bag. Not anymore. And I agree with the accuracy. Even when he has time to throw he is way off, not just barely missing guys. When is the last time he scrambled out of the pocket and threw on the run- can't or won't do it.

I’ve always recognized that when Cam isn’t trusting his line, his passes are way off. When he is getting protection or making things happen with his legs, his throws all of a sudden tighten up. He clearly is not having fun and more than any QB in the league, it shows in the way he plays. Why prolong his career by limiting him to mediocrity? Let him be Cam and try and win now!

We have seen him go through stretches where his accuracy is pretty good, so there has to be elements that negatively affect his play. Identify these, address them, and then see how far we can go. If we can’t do that, blow it up and do something new.

I just wanted to remind everyone that as mediocre as the Panthers have been of late, that they have been to the Super Bowl twice since the Cowboys or Redskins last made it to the Super Bowl.
