I beg your pardon. I most certainly did. Prine wasn't my favorite but i sure did enjoy his appearances on PBS. Perhaps you had me on ignore like some of you guys so often like to gloat about. In fact, there were two threads started about John.

I apologize. I had him mixed up with Anthony Bourdain in this memory. Lost too many over the last few years, and covid has killed time and memory. RIP to John and Charley.... hopefully they're jamming in heaven.

I understand as i had no idea who Bordain was except to hear his name mentioned on PBS or NPR once or twice.

No !!! Well , I hope Dad was there to greet him as he came across. We were big fans, by the way , “is anybody going to San Antone, or Phoenix Arizona? “

Very sorry to hear this news. Growing up in the 70's in a family of country music lovers, I heard his music frequently on the radio and on the 8-track tape player.

Charley Pride was an outstanding individual who added so much to country music and worked to break down racial barriers through his music and his example. He will be sorely missed!

I gave you a thumbs up even though you seem to twist my posts and detest me, Watauga Man. Again thanks for the post. I love every single song on his play list.

Sadly, Charley Pride's death is being tied to his appearance and performance at the Country Music Awards Show held indoors in Nashville, TN last month. Pride, who already had been named to the Country Music Hall of Fame, was awarded the CMA Lifetime Achievement Award during the show. It would be his last public appearance. One month later he was dead of complications of Covid-19.

Pride had three Grammy Awards, more than 30 No. 1 hits between 1969 and 1984, won the Country Music Association's Top Male Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year awards in 1972 and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000. The beloved artist was the first African-American to be named to membership in the Grand Ole Opry.

Pride was also a superb athlete, becoming a two-time Negro baseball league all-star. He played for the Memphis Red Sox and Birmingham Black Barons. He probably forfeited his opportunity to play major league baseball by enlisting for a two-year tour of duty in the US Army. Nonetheless, he never lost his love for baseball. At the time of his death, Pride was a part-owner of the MLB American League's Texas Rangers.

Thanks for posting that, Chuck. i mentioned he played minor league baseball, but didn't know it was as long ago as the separate Negro Leagues. He was a truly classy gentleman.
