CFB bias on full display

Not only does Cincy get a huge snub but they get punished with a game against Georgia in Atlanta.
8-3 ncsu who beat no one of consequence nabs the gator bowl.
UNC gets an NY6
I'm assuming Miami will get the Outback bowl. They may pick coastal but Miami is the bigger draw.
What a messed up year.
Hypothetical here. If we had gone undefeated, do we make the CFP this year?

Re: CFB bias on full display
Probably not. No P5 wins, and Marshall wet the bed to end the year. We would have beat UL twice and they would probably not be Top 25. Win against CCU and they might still be Top 25 with the rest of their record, but our only Top 25 win considering final hypothetical rankings.
If we had gone undefeated with our original schedule, there might have been hope considering how well our conference did this year.

And whatayaknow... the two P5's we were scheduled to play this season (with a combined 6 wins!) get the mayonnaise game in Charlotte...

Sitting here watching the CoegebFootball Playoff Selection Show and I think it was Palmer who basically said the G5s need to start their own championship if they want to play a playoff scenario. What we we call that, the Football Bowl Subdivision FCS All Over Again Playoff. No way group of 5s are going to get a fair shake.

Re: CFB bias on full display
If ever there was a year to get 2 G5 schools in NY6, this would have been the year. CFP committee will move heaven and earth to prevent that. If the resume is there, well the P5 has a “better” team. If you don’t have the resume..., well you get the point. A team plays half their games and still gets in on the eye test over undefeated teams that play a full season. We will never see 2 G5 teams in CFP!

Re: CFB bias on full display
I would almost feel better if the playoff committee stated publicly... "Look you guys (the G5's) don't have the talent, the coaches, the facilities, the resources, etc... nor the money to buy these things, along with the power, the immunity from NCAA sanctions, the ability to make your own rules, etc... Therefore swallow (and choke on for all we care) the bitter pill that says we will NEVER consider any of you for anything lucrative before handing it to a P5, any P5 for that matter. Now that we're out in the open with all this, you can always consider breaking away and having your own playoffs. That's what we've always hoped you'd do anyway, but you just won't go away on your own. Now, finally having said this, we hope you realize none of this is EVER changing to your benefit." Why won't they just say it?!

Wake last win was on Halloween yet they get a nice bowl. I don’t knock UNC or State. Good records and good wins. What’s the point of the conference championship games? ND gets the doors blown off but it makes no difference.

Re: CFB bias on full display
I’m surprised some of these teams have opted out of bowls. I would imagine the coach gets a decent bonus through his contract if he makes a bowl game. I’m sure some just don’t want to extend the season past the holidays for the sake of their players, and some do not want their team to be rewarded for a mediocre season. I guess when you think about it, maybe there are more coaches out there that put the team ahead of their wallet.

And, even if that, and Carolina and A&M are #’s 1 and 2, that’s the best we’ll get, period... Sucks, but what do you do? I really hate it this year for Cindy, ULL, and (as much as I hate to say it) Coastal. I’m so fed up with politics in every aspect of life...Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 4:47 pmIn 2022, once we go undefeated by beating UNC and Texas A&M... And as I predicted earlier in the thread, it looks like Kentucky at 4-6 will play NC State. I’ll bet the Wolfpack are thrilled

Re: CFB bias on full display
No G5 team will ever get picked for the playoff unless they expand it to 8 teams and decide they can throw us a bone by having a G5 spot. Anybody that was thinking Cincy had a chance has beed smoking the good stuff.appdaze wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 3:27 pmhttps://www.cbssports.com/college-footb ... ions/live/

I'm assuming Miami will get the Outback bowl. They may pick coastal but Miami is the bigger draw.

Hypothetical here. If we had gone undefeated, do we make the CFP this year?

Re: CFB bias on full display
No chance we make it. The AAC is given more credit than SBC and Cincy got snubbed. The only way we will ever have a shot at a national title in the SBC is if we have a G5 playoff where each G5 gets an auto-bid as long as CFP does not expand. If they expand to 8 teams and guarantee a slot for undefeated G5 conference champions then we would have a path.appdaze wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 3:27 pmhttps://www.cbssports.com/college-footb ... ions/live/

Love that ESPN is going after it. I know its only because they don't have as big a piece of the pie, but at least its getting called out on a national level.

I assumed the hypothetical in this thread was debating our chances of being selected by the CFP committee for a NY6 bowl. IMO there is no scenario that exists that would allow us to be considered for the championship playoff as long as we are in a G5 conference.

No. The CFP was on full display this year. So obvious and blatant. It’s ridiculous.Appstrong wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 8:52 pmI assumed the hypothetical in this thread was debating our chances of being selected by the CFP committee for a NY6 bowl.
