That's a bummer, he was a great ambassador for baseball. I don't have a lot to say because we all know so much already about him because of his fame on and off the field. Great human, great player.

Saw him hit his 500th home run in Fulton County Stadium. One of baseball’s all time greats. A legend and a good man. Rest peacefully 44. Go Braves!

In the past year, the Good Lord (if they are all there and I suspect they are, never know), is putting together quite a lineup on heaven’s ball field. Pitchers: Seaver, Gibson, Ford, Perry with Don Larsen waiting. Perranoski in the bullpen. Outfield: Aaron, Brock, Kaline. Wynn, Allen and others on the bench. Infield: Watson, Morgan, Mencke, Fernandez, Oliver. Need a catcher. Old catchers better watch out.
I’d take that team against anybody.

Watched on a small b&w TV in a dorm room in Coltrane when he broke Ruth's record. Still remember having to tape the foil covered antenna to the outside of the window just to get a fuzzy image of the game. The whole hall erupted with cheers when he rounded the bases!!

As several have mentioned, Hammerin’ Hank was The True Home Run King. Though it was at the end of his amazing career, I feel fortunate my Dad took me as an 8 year old to see him play in 1975. He hit a HR that day as a Milwaukee Brewer vs my team the Kansas City Royals. RIP Henry Aaron, you left quite a mark.

I watched the game when he hit the big homer. I know this is a Henry Aaron thread but man all of the former players who have died over the past year really hurts. I’ve always been a Reds fan- Morgan and Tom Terrific. I have always just been a baseball fan. Used to love checking the box scores every night. Tough day

I was right there with you in Gardner. Same scenario, foil and all!

RIP to a legend. As a life long Braves fan, I always loved when he was on air and listening to his stories and his knowledge of baseball. He’s forever the home run leader in my eyes.
