Star Trek USS Appalachia

In one of the threads about basketball and the NCAA tournament there was the rare, for YC, side-tracked discussion about things not related to the thread title. Star Trek came up.
This was mentioned in Star Trek: First Contact (ST VIII).

Thanks for this interesting post. It caused me to wonder if the US Navy and Starfleet pronounced the name correctly.

I’ll go back and watch the scene. To b honest I only noticed it watching the momentary on blu ray. Thayer have one commentary track that is similar to pop up videos on VH1 and I saw the note their. I’ll do a screen cap this weekend and ee if I can hear the pronunciation better.
