Re: Elgin Baylor
Elgin did things in the air that Dr. J later made famous. And served his country for two years while playing or his stats might have been even more impressive.

Re: Elgin Baylor
Elgin Baylor and Connie Hawkins laid the foundation for MJ and the Doctor to build upon. Connie especially was adept at getting some serious air long before MJ.Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 8:26 pmElgin did things in the air that Dr. J later made famous. We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Kareem is quoted as saying that Oscar Robertson was the best ever. It was a few years back , with a specific reference to Jordan.

The man, himself, in 2018 with his statue outside the Staples Center in LA. I remember, also.

Re: Elgin Baylor
It absolutely amazed me how the Lakers , with West,Wilt and Baylor never won an NBA Championship.Of course the reason was Bill Russell and Hondo....

Re: Elgin Baylor
Yep - just drove me nuts - hated the Celtics (mainly because Jerry and the Lakers couldn't beat. them) - those Celtic teams were probably the best ever or very close to it - they finally won in '72 but I believe Elgin had retired

Re: Elgin Baylor loop
The Celtics were too deep. They were strong on the bench. And Russell could handle Wilt.
How many Hall of Famers in all the sports have passed in the last 12 months? Too many - a very high number.

Yes. Seems to come in bunches these days. Due to the age of the golden era guys I suppose. Childhood icons.
