Re: HPU Dental School
I don't think Qubein is trying to convert High Point to a Cambridge-like city. It's taken generations for High Point to become what it is and it'll take generations to transform it. There's a reason why there's a fence (although very decorative) surrounding the campus. He has done a lot to improve the city in the last 10-15 years, no question.
He's done what the corporate world calls a "BHAG" "Big Hairy Ass (or Audacious) Goal." So, if he's got every teacher, professor, administrator, custodian, yard worker, food worker, etc. working towards that goal every single day, then that can be transformative. If they fall short of the BHAG, then instead of being listed as one of the best universities in the world (like Harvard) they'll "settle" for being listed among the best in the South, or the East Coast. It's an inspirational goal...and it's working.

Being born in High Point with most of my family raised there, and being a U Methodist clergy watching little High Point College, a Methodist school, grow to what it has become, that school has saved High Point from significant depression from the downward slide of the furniture industry.

I'm still wondering what HPU is ever going to do with the mall. To my knowledge they still own most of it but haven't really done anything with it. It is prime real estate.

If they ever make it legal to bankrupt college loans, you will see the whole industry drop like a rock.

Geez. Naming a seditionist as dean is an interesting law school market to go after....Gonzo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 6:09 pmhttps://myfox8.com/news/north-carolina/ ... 8KKWGuOayw

Seems like a great person to bring more of just what this nation needs, more lawyers...

Well, depends on the individual future lawyer as to whether they will help serve members of our community or help contribute to societal rot.
Since the leader of this particular dojo apparently used his law license to help try to overthrow the American electorate I'm afraid HPUSOL will mostly produce the latter.

Re: HPU Dental School
I'm genuinely not getting political at all. This thread is about the new HPU schools. Their new law school is of particular interest to me. Attorneys in other states who filed frivolous motions seeking to overturn the election have been disbarred. That's not a political take, it's what happened. And now one of the attorneys in NC who did that has been named as the first Dean at HPU's new law school.
*Shrug*
I understand a low tolerance for anything politics-adjacent since so many folks are incapable of being diplomatic, but man it sure does flat out eliminate a lot of pure, un-editorialized, news topics. Sheesh.

We don’t need more lawyers in this country.
We don’t need more bankers in this country.
We definitely don’t need more career politicians in this country.

I wouldn't be so opposed to political discussion if there was actually a discussion. This thread is a perfect example that that is not possible.Gonzo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 2:54 pmI'm genuinely not getting political at all. This thread is about the new HPU schools. The problem with having a political “discussion “ in here is people have yet to understand facts vs conspiracy.
