Washington Football Team sold for an NFL record $6.05 billion dollars
Finally, Dan Snyder has zero ties to the Washington Football Club and a lot of things are about to change!
The Washington Commanders have recently undergone a change in ownership, and Earvin 'Magic' Johnson has disclosed that other substantial alterations may be in store for the NFC East squad. Johnson is part of the new ownership of the Washington team. The NBA legend has now revealed that the NFC East team could undergo other major changes, which very likely will include a move back to the District of Columbia and into a heavily renovated/enlarged or a completely new RFK Stadium.
After several months of negotiations, Dan Snyder decided to sell the franchise to a group led by businessman Josh Harris. The deal was for a league-record price of $6.05 billion.
After the NFL approved the sale, everyone started wondering about upcoming changes to the team. One of the questions raised is whether the club will change its name again, as it appears that fans don’t feel connected to the ‘Commanders’ identity.
“I think everything’s on the table, especially after this year,” Johnson told The Today Show about the potential upcoming alterations. “We’ll see where we are with the name, but I can’t say [for sure] right now.”
In 2020, amid nationwide protests for racial equality, the franchise decided to stop using the name Redskins. They played as the Washington Football Team until 2022 when they officially announced the change to the Commanders.

I still think they should have stuck to Washington Football Team rather than try to force a name change. It was so bad it was good.

I've said it before and I say again: they missed the name they needed. It was in the movie "The Replacements" The Washington Sentinels was the team name in the movie and precedence has already been set when the NHL had the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Given their typical performances I would name them the Washington Generals....

I would’ve just changed the redskin logo to a potato.

Cesspools is the name I would go with...and any new stadium..nickname it The Swamp (yes, realize gators have it at collegiate level)...that is the most appropriate given the state of politics on both sides of the aisle....

My first and most beloved childhood team; gradually have lost interest in the NFL, but those early memories are some of my most cherished sports memories.

The majority of people I know that live in D.C. and it's surrounding areas, and are a fan of the team have always wanted the team to move back to the city.

I think with the change of ownership, a name change is possible. Otherwise, according to the article, it's a 5-year waiting period. If the native american indian group wants it reverted, it should be considered. Seems that those in the perpetually offended crowd originally complained the loudest, and I assume most aren't even native american.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 5:16 pmI like this push back and the cancel crowd

These are the worst people. Constantly complaining, never happy, and feel entitled to tell other people what should offend them. Truly the worst we have to offer.asumba95 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 5:36 pmI think with the change of ownership, a name change is possible. They should have kept the name and changed the logo to a potato.
