My wife and I are cruising people and love the Caribbean. This one is a bit of a gut punch. Those of us hitting some old milestone ages but still love certain music styles are sad today.

First thing I saw this morning on here, just devasting news to me. There isn't a day that I am out on a boat that his music isn't playing. Wow, what a loss.

Saw him play in Varsity Gym in the 80’s. He was an asshole. Heard through the years that it wasn’t out of character.

Really sad - my all-time favorite place was Cheeseburger in Paradise in Lahaina Maui - that's now burned to the ground and the man who made the sound and feeling possible is now gone ---

I’m glad you put this out into the world. What would we have done if we didn’t know this about a dead person?

The man openly degraded (over the mic during said concert) the school we all proudly support and the town I call home. He was dead to me long before he was dead to you. Take this information as you wish.

I am truly sorry Jimmy Buffett hurt your feelings that much 35 years ago. I hope in time you will heal.

Did my words hurt you? Feel free to tell your therapist about it. I don’t give a shit.

If you're pushin' age 50, you'd better learn from Jimmy's cause of death no matter how much hate you have for the guy. It would seem that as many as half of this forum's membership (including yours truly) are already at risk. Just sayin'...you might also read the "what's new at the rock" thread in regard to sun exposure.

Jimmy Buffett died from Merkel cell skin cancer. What to know about the rare skin condition.

If I recall he once walked off the stage in a concert in Charlotte due to "security concerns " after about 30 minutes. His name was mud in that city for a long time. I made it to one concert when I was living there. It was a blast. It hurts the soul a bit when your favorite singers all of a sudden are 75 or dead.

I have a friend who at 41 dealt with this. It made me be much more diligent about applying sunscreen when out and about. He had a large mass removed behind his ear. If his dermatologist hadn’t noticed it, he likely would have never seen it.
