Credit due! Bailey No-No for the Reds...
Come on! This was a great performance for the Reds last night. Way to go Bailey! Only the 3rd Red to ever pitch more than 1 no-hitter! Nice!!

He was in TOTAL command of his pitches; inside corner, outside corner... It was a real gem to watch.

It was great, but not the greatest.
The greatest was when I was at App. Took a road trip to Cinny and Tom Browning threw a PERFECT game. Now that was a special night.
Go Reds!!!!!!!!!!

Browning's game was definitely a gem to see!

While I wasn't around to see it, I still say that Johnny Vander Meer's record is the one record in the Major Leagues that will never be broken. Someone might tie throwing consecutive no-hitters, but it would almost be impossible to throw three in a row!

I think Nolan Ryan has two that won't be broken; 5,400+ K's and 7 no-hitters. He was an absolute beast.newtoasu wrote:While I wasn't around to see it, I still say that Johnny Vander Meer's record is the one record in the Major Leagues that will never be broken. 2004 draft first round pitchers: Verlander, Bailey, Weaver, Humber = six no-hitters.

Impressive draft year indeed... I think Humber is the only not on a roster right now (released by Astros). Still - good batch. Would make for a nice starting rotation.AppinVA wrote:2004 draft first round pitchers: Verlander, Bailey, Weaver, Humber = six no-hitters.

Ryan express is the standard....12 one hit games is also tops and lost in the records. Hit a hr on him and you will be hit next at bat!

Great job by Bailey! I liked his chances once he reached the 7th given his stuff Tuesday night. My boys and I are on a ballpark trip this weekend - new Comiskey yesterday with Wrigley, Miller Park, and GABP coming up. We would have seen Bailey's next game before yesterday's rainout interrupted the pitching rotation.
