Harrisonburg Recommendations

As someone that lives 20 minutes away from Harrisonburg and visits often, I'd be happy to give recommendations to anyone traveling to Harrisonburg this week

Parking?

The lots closest to the stadium, similar to App are for the larger donors. There are some areas to park around campus both paid and first come, first serve (free) but you'll want to bring some walking shoes or ride the public transportation towards the stadium. If you chance it and think, "maybe I'll be good here" definitely look for signs. Neighborhoods around there are strict and will tow in a heartbeat.

The shopping center where Wal Mart is located is not known to tow, mainly because there are so many other shops there it be hard to tell exactly what store someone is in at that moment. But again, look for signs.

In summary, similar to game days in Boone, you'll have a nice little walk, probably a bit further in Harrisonburg.

Not too sure. Any games I've attended I was given free tickets which included a pass to a lot right next to the stadium. Other things I mentioned about parking are from driving around campus and Harrisonburg on game days in the past. Don't recall the exact locations where I saw paid v.s. free right off hand. I'll see if I can get more information on that this week.

I'm not sensitive to this usually, but today was coughing quite a bit from this smoke. Currently a decent haze in the sky and can definitely smell the smoke.

Several school divisions in the Valley have cancelled school because of the fire.

I heard yesterday Rockbridge County was cancelling today. I live in Shenandoah County and my kids had indoor recess and P.E. class stayed inside yesterday because of the air quality.

Buena Vista and Lexington City schools are closed as well. I'm sure folks heading up I-81 will notice as they head north towards Harrisonburg.
