I know there are some Dodger fans out there... Interesting read on the all-time Dodgers (single season) team.

I agree with the writer, some limb he did climb out on too... CF (Kemp over the Duke) and C (Piazza over Campy). I could actually buy the Kemp pick just due to a single season. Piazza over Campy? Uh - nope... There is much more to being a MLB catcher than crushing the ball. Campy was one of the top 5 all-time (could have been #1 if not for accident). Mikey never won MVP (Campy took 3). Single season OR career.
Pitching has obviously been a strength of the Boys in Blue. This would definitely be a pitching staff to fear...

Got at least half of 'em wrong! This is closer, but still not perfect.havefunkc wrote:I know there are some Dodger fans out there... Interesting read on the all-time Dodgers (single season) team.

BTW, The Duke over Kemp by 500 miles. Snider was very rarely ever hurt until a World War II knee problem from Pacific Naval Ops eventually caught up with him and cut his career short. Kemp is "never not hurt." The cry-baby misses three weeks over a hang-nail. So much talent wasted.
Snider was in the same class as Mantle and Mayes--and they all played in NYC in the same era. All are first-ballot MLB Hall-of-Famers. Kemp will have to buy a ticket to get in the Hall-of-Fame. He's not even the best CF on the LA roster these days. He is, however, the team prima donna. There's no award for that--just horse laughs and disgust.

I guess you can tell that The Duke was my boyhood hero. I offer no apologies!

That is as solid of a lineup has you can find. The guys that missed would have been a pretty good team.

I know it goes against this format - but, you can't have a Dodger team without Roy and the Duke ---
