Probably one of the more powerful lineups you will see during this run of all-time season teams. Wow! Probably the only weak area: RP... Even thought, as much as Hornsby was one of the greats, I don't think I would have included him here. It was the only season he ever donned a Giants uniform. Understood this is about an "All-Time Season", but some weigh for those that played for the franchise should be had...
Could you image an OF of Ott, Bonds and Mays? Geez!!

You have to admit - that was one of the highest leg kicks in baseball.

That incident set off a 15 minute brawl in Candlestick. Roseboro had to have a blood transfusion and a bunch of stitches. He was conscious the entire time. Although Roseboro sued Marichal--and won--the two eventually became friends. Marichal owes his "seat" in the HOF to Roseboro. Roseboro was a class act; and was widely respected. Baseball writers blacklisted Marichal and blocked his election into the HOF until Roseboro intervened on Marichal's behalf. Only then did Marichal gain entry.
Historically, Dodgers-Giants games have always been heated...dating back to early NYC days--one misstep away from a bench-clearing. After all these years; nothing's changed. Still one wrong word or one dirty play away from a brawl.

That is a pretty impressive line-up. I became a Giants fan at a young age because of Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, and the aforementioned "high kicking" Juan Marichal. Mays was my baseball hero and McCovey was the big lefty slugger like I thought I was at that age (purely fantasy now looking back, haha). I remember reading about the Marichal- Roseboro incident and being saddened by it but still liking him as a Giant. It also helped my fan-hood that the Giants had a minor league team in Lexington when I was young and then Giants' Hal Lanier (from nearby Denton) and Bobby Bonds played minor league ball in Lexington.
Thanks!

That's about the same time the Dodgers had a Class A team in Salisbury; along about '63-'69. I remember Lanier and Bonds playing at Newman Park at CatawbaU.

Future Dodger pitchers Jack Billingham and Pete Mikkelsen along with infielder Zoilo Versalles were beginning to make names for themselves in about '64; all three were in LA by '69. Mikkelsen got traded to the Yankees--then back to the Dodgers.
