Interesting twist indeed. Write has taken his work over the past several weeks and attempted to find an All-Time AL and NL team (single season). Talk about some potent lineups! And pitching staffs that even fantasy guys would have a hard time matching up against. Imagine a game where Walter Johnson is pitching against Bob Gibson? And Johnny Bench batting in the 9 hole?? Wow!!
Once you get past the wow factor, I could see room for debate here:
AL C: Mauer over Yogi?
AL SS: as much as I like Cal, A-rod had better years...
AL: hard to imagine any All-Time team without Teddy Baseball or Ty Cobb...
NL 1B: While Bagwell was having an incredible year, it still was a strike year. And I don't think I could put any player on an all-time league team from a strike year. McCovey/Perez...
NL 3B: Scmidt is the only choice here, but see 1B (I would have picked a non-strike year).
NL: No Hank??? Put him at 1B or DH or something...
Who else should be here?
Probably many more, but nice attempt. I look forward to seeing his simulation results.
