Michigan's Brady Hoke Lets Concussed Player Back In Game

Unread post by T-Dog » Mon Sep 29, 2014 8:39 am

Throw out his failing results. He should be fired for this. The drumbeat is getting really loud over this incident, which is inexcusable.

Hoke's statement after the game.
Well, I don't know. I don't know if he might have had a concussion or not. I don't know that. Shane's a pretty competitive tough kid. Shane wanted to be the quarterback. So believe me, if he didn't want to be, he would have come to the sideline or stayed down.
And an official statement today.
“The safety of our student-athletes is always our top priority. We generally never discuss the specifics of a student-athlete's medical care, but Shane Morris was removed from yesterday’s game against Minnesota after further aggravating an injury to his leg that he sustained earlier in the contest. He was evaluated by our experienced athletic trainers and team physicians, and we're confident proper medical decisions were made. The University of Michigan has a distinguished group of Certified Athletic Trainers and team physicians who are responsible for determining whether or not a player is physically able to play. Our coaches have no influence or authority to make determinations if or when an injured player returns to competition. The health and welfare of our student-athletes is and will continue to be a top priority.”

I have seen hobbled kids left in games. See R. Williams App State 2005 NC game. But putting him back on the field after he took that hit was indefensible. That kid was dazed, could not even walk straight.

He's done. The stadium had huge chunks of visible aluminum Saturday. The Michigan fans have already quit on him.

Wow, first I've heard of that, but that has the potential to be the last straw for Hoke immediately. That line about "if he didn't want to be the quarterback, he would have stayed down" is practically begging to get himself fired. Would not be at all surprised to see someone else coaching the team this weekend.

They're Michigan. They have expectations. Right or wrong, his performance as a coach has not met those expectations. Our fans will do the same thing if we don't turn it around next year. Heck, some already are. It's what happens when schools with winning traditions don't. You can say it's wrong, and I won't argue the point, but it exists.

I think you're right, but there were MMB'ers on here who said it wouldn't happen to us.

You may say I'm snide, but good god are you argumentative. The only time you ever agree with anyone is when you post one of your stupid "RP" posts.
Give 'em hell!

Yes you are snide. Referencing what other MMB'ers say should not be considered argumentative except by you. Different view points are what this d board is for. As to RP's, you'll find that I have given virtually everyone a RP at one time or other. If you think that's stupid, that's on you not me.
