We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

YMCA
I did a search and found no mention of a specific YMCA facility in Boone, nor a Gold's gym for that matter. Someone tell me I am wrong, please. I just want a place to use a rowing machine for 200 or 300 reps and the use of a tread mill on Saturday while I am up to take my 9 year old to the Ghost Train at Tweetsie. Not interested in paying $120 to see the football game at this point.

The Erg machine is a helluva workout. My daughter is on her high school crew team. She pulls a 2k warmup and then pulls a 5k three days a week.

Re: YMCA
A hell of a lot less than the 40.00 a pop that I paid for the Liberty tickets I had to eat. Last I checked, ASU ticket office doesn't give AAA discounts and likely won't have drunk fans puking on our seats like was done a couple years ago. Too, last game we attended in KBS, they didn't have unlimited chair lift, carnival rides and unlimited train rides like Tweetsie.Rekdiver wrote:How much are you going to pay at Tweetsie?NewApp wrote:I did a search and found no mention of a specific YMCA facility in Boone, nor a Gold's gym for that matter. Believe me, dude, over the last 50 years, I have paid way more than you for ASU football tickets...most likely.

Nearest YMCA is Linville and no Golds. Like 5-6 gyms in Boone but none by those names. Try the wellness Center on Boone Heights.

Re: YMCA
The Broyhill Wellness Center has a fabulous program and a wide variety of workout equipment; including rowing machines. It's at the location of the old Ice Palace--if you remember that facility. It's membership based, but at one time offered a "daily" rate. They recently added a Silver Sneakers program if you have that membership. Give 'em a call.

I'm sorry. Knowing how you operate, I'm going to guess you couldn't care less about the YMCA, a gym, or anything else. You have come up with this whole thing to pull us into another "discussion". You're taking your boy to Tweetsie. Great. Have fun. Take lots of pictures. But I dont think for a second your motivation was for information, rather another Cline attempt to stir the pot. Otherwise, there is no need to volunteer information nobody would think to ask.NewApp wrote:A hell of a lot less than the 40.00 a pop that I paid for the Liberty tickets I had to eat. Well if you have been buying tickets for 50 years you might have since I only graduated 40 years ago. Seems like you don't have season tickets ....dude. Enjoy the train ride. I'll be in the stadium pulling for my team. Hope you find you rowing machine.NewApp wrote:A hell of a lot less than the 40.00 a pop that I paid for the Liberty tickets I had to eat. Re: YMCA
Am I the only one who was thinking the following: NewApp has been buying tickets for 50 years. Assuming he started buying at say 20 (and that might be generous) that would put him at 70. And he has a 9-year old. I would imagine a MUCH younger wife so...way to go!?!AppinVA wrote:I'm sorry. Re: YMCA
If I wanted to know about gyms in Boone I would just google it which doesn't require MMB. But if I wanted insight from MMB, I would ask "Hey, are there any gyms in Boone with a rowing machine?"AppinVA wrote:I'm sorry. But no... "Anyone know of a gym with a rowing machine in Boone? You see, I'm not going to the App game. I mean, I'll be in Boone during the game. But I won't be there. I don't want to pay $120. I'm a curmudgeon. By the way, I don't care about a gym. I just want you all to know I won't be at the game but I'll be in Boone. See how edgy I am?"
Also, in case Cline is really serious here, anyone can get into KBS for less than $120. Go walk in the stadium lot and find people trying to get rid of tickets. I guarantee you can get 3 seats for $60.
Keep stirring the pot, sir.

Where the H you get "stirring the pot" is on you, fella.
As to gyms, I am a member at Gold's and the YMCA where I live so I would be using a Y or Gold's at no charge.

He's not feisty, but requires a lot of attention which, thankfully I have time for that I didn't have while raising two of my own while working full time teaching and coaching as well as usually another side job to make ends meet.
