Don't let him back into baseball. Just put him in the Hall of Fame where he belongs.

They should be able to separate what he did on the field from what he did off of it. A Hall of Fame without the all-time hits leader is a joke.

Interesting point there... Hall of Fame eligibility has nothing to do with the MLB ban. The Hall has it's own rules. Whether the HoF decides to review for Pete is an entirely different conversation. Will the HoF take up the cause (considering they have a bunch of Pete already on display in the Hall) to change eligibility? Doubtful, but one that will be talked about for years to come...

Good point on it being separate. If thats that case then Rose should take them to court for using his likeness unless they let him in. Of course he might be happy that they already have his stuff in there.

Bart Giamatti declared that no one on the permanently banned list could be considered for the Hall of Fame. Manfred's statement may have been an adjustment to that policy.

Me thinks there are some differing positions on who controls HoF, but it's pretty clear. MLB doesn't have ruling control of the HoF. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-bas ... me-voters

Interesting how the HoF changed rules in 1991 (after Pete was added to the list). IF HoF changes rules again (doubtful), the Pete could get another shot at HoF - IF...
