I know they are a private school but interesting to see a North Carolina school moving in this direction like many others have across the country.

I look forward to toasting our victory there in 2020 as their fans drown their sorrows.

Some legislation would have to be modified for that to happen I believe.

I believe we could find a loophole as we have brewing as a major.

If you want to prevent drinking at the games, you just need to make sure at least two Baptists are there.

Wake Forest is a Baptist school. I wonder who will be the first to complain.

Nope. Severed ties with the church a couple decades ago. There's a bar on campus. Shorty's. Been there for years.

Nope to you. I'm a Baptist Minister who was serving in NC when the change in relationship occured. Wake retains their Baptist heritage and even opened a Baptist influenced divinity school. The Cooperative. Baptist Fellowship, which was the middle ground split off from the Southern Baptist Convention, retains a supportive relationship with Wake and many of its churches financially support the school

Fair enough! You clearly know better than I about the details of the relationship. I was (dumbly, it seems) repeating what I'd heard from some of the staff there, and that separation has been widely characterized as a severance of ties. But like I say, I defer to you.
Either way, it is true that they serve beer on campus already. So beer at the stadium wouldn't be unprecedented.

As a private school, Wake is able to conduct stadium-wide alcohol sales.
UNC System schools, unfortunately, have no such exemption. The "loophole" in the existing NC law allows for alcohol sales in a confined area within a stadium - so basically a private box (which KBS already does) or a beer garden (that we've been trying to get for over 2 years).
Those are our options until the law changes.

Alright, I know it is late but you reminded me of a joke. A man calls his Presbyterian minister and lets him know that his pet coonhound of 14 years has just passed and that he wants a decent burial. His minister politely lets him know that he does not perform pet funerals and recommends his baptist preacher friend down the street. Before hanging up, the man asks the Presbyterian minister how much he should pay the Baptist preacher for the service, $500 or $600 and the minister replies, "Now, why didn't you tell me that dog was a Presbyterian". Thanks and tip your waiters. Bada bing, bada boom.

One big factor to look at here is that Wake has contracted out/sold their concession services to a 3rd party that will do all the compliance and training for these sales. We do are own sales for concessions (Athletics for KBS, VG, BBS & HCC for HCC) and most of the work is done with student employees or volunteers. To serve beer, you have to be 21. So that cuts down on a lot of the cheaper workforce. I know at the HCC & I think at KBS, the beer/Wine sales at the Yosef Club is done by full time employees of Food Services Catering that are contracted for the event.
So even if we were able to sell beer/wine at games, we would either have to change the way we do business, increase our labor costs or sell rights to a 3rd party for a stand, which 1 stand at KBS, imagine the fiasco.
