That would be my guess but notice that it says “as funds are raised”. They don’t know how they are gonna pay for it. I guess the university will take out another loan......

Re: Track
Its also not difficult to understand that football generates revenue and exposure for the University that track and field does not. Is it fair to our athletes who "run track"? Absolutely not. But life isn't fair sometimes. If funds were unlimited they could have both, but that just isn't the case. As I said before, the track had to go to build the North End Zone facility. I would venture a guess that we raised more money for the University in concession sales at the game today than all proceedes from an entire season of track and field.NewApp wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 12:30 pmHighPointApp wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 10:56 amI’m pretty confident the AD has a long term vision for our entire athletic department. It's not difficult to understand that a new track should have been built before tearing up the present one. What high school trackster wants to sign with a school that has no track?

Re: Track
This isn’t the perfect forum for this but it’s been on my mind because I watch virtually all our games on tv due to geography and toddlers.
What is with our camera angle? Is part of it ESPN+? My understanding is it’s our broadcast and ESPN just shows it for us.
It looks Mickey Mouse. It’s slightly higher and farther from the field than any other broadcast I watch. It makes our players look tiny and the track/empty seats more obvious than a lower camera angle. Also the construction doesn’t help but whatever, that’s growth and I can live with that part.
Someone with a better understanding of our behind the scenes effort can feel free to educate me or tell me to take a hike, that’s fine. Especially if we are doing the “best we can with what we’ve got”. But I’ve got eyes and man, I want the product on the field to be shown as positively as possible on the tube.

Re: Track
So, let's turn Holmes into a classroom building since basketball sure as H doesn't generate much revenue and neither does FH, yet it has a field of its own.

The Holmes Center is a classroom building except for the locker rooms and arena.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Re: Track
Another topic beaten to absolute death but...those shots of the guys on the bench look horrible with the track in the picture. It will be great when it’s gone and the construction is done.

Re: Track
There have been some rather large donations to help fund the FH field.
I know you want to beat this to death but just let it go or start a funding program to help out get the funds to build the track. Give a few dollars and earmark it for the new Track and Field. I am sure they have a fund just for that. If you have already given then give a few more dollars, and thanks for the first donation.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

For what it’s worth, Texas A&M won at least one and possibly more national championships without a home track.NewApp wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 12:30 pmHighPointApp wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 10:56 amI’m pretty confident the AD has a long term vision for our entire athletic department. Re: Track
Where did they practice?
That’s a shame. Winning national championship and the fans didn’t get to see them perform.

I’m not sure where they practiced. I’ve been on the campus numerous times, but it was not obvious to me where that might have happened. My guess is that it was at a secondary track on campus that was not sanctioned for NCAA events. Good question though. I’ll try to look into it.

I mean yeah, sure. We can use that money for football.NewApp wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2019 2:59 pmMcLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2019 2:04 pmI have not heard that it has. What I did hear was that App State was not hosting anything this spring and that, I thought, was mentioned back when the plans were announced.
As I've said before with less strong words, it is stupid to tear up the track with none already built to replace it. Might as well just drop Track and Field.

And lose some FB money due to Title IX and women's track. Makes sense.Boroneer10 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 12:35 pmI mean yeah, sure. Re: Track
I don't know what our profit/loss is but I'm sure we are not rolling around in money. I'm hoping to make an athletic donation in the near future. Let's hope we continue to grow our alumni base.
