XC teams compete at SoCon championships
The men finished second and the women fourth. It seems many of our Fall season programs have struggled this year. However, the VB team did win its fourth in a row yesterday defeating UNCG in 3.

Re: XC teams compete at SoCon championships
I assume the SoCon champs (at least, if not more) move on to another round with a NCAA regional or some such event. Is it possible that runners can qualify by doing well enough in other events?
Is it based on straight times since the lengths are standardized or is there some sort of handicap for each course that factors in both time and course difficulty to qualify.
On the SoCon website it mentions that both App and Elon both have meets next week. Why run these events if the season is essentially over after the SoCon championship, except for those that qualify?

All the SoCon teams can compete in the regionals in Charlottesville on Nov. 15. It is the same course that our high school regionals use. It is on a farm outside of C'ville.

All at once or a staggered start in a few waves?hapapp wrote:200+ plus runners last year at McAlpine in Charlotte.
How many runners to a team?
Can a team send just their best runner?
Lots of questions and I demand answers.

All at once.
A team can put up to 15 runners on the entry form but only seven can compete.

Do the other 8 just go to get in the way? Or do they take the top 7 of the possible 15 entries per school?hapapp wrote:All at once.

Re: XC teams compete at SoCon championships
Usually, the coach will compete his top 7 runners. The others are essentially along for the ride. Of course, it doesn't mean the coach will put all 15 on the entry form.
