I wonder what their total giving is though? Also, most athlete's are notorious for not donating back so the golfers may not have much competition for that title.

That is basically what Coastal has. They have a partnership with the Community college who has classes in course management to maintain the course.Stonewall wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 8:06 amPlausible. If someone or group is bankrolling the team I could see that as the determining factor. I may have shared the story of when we were offered ownership of a golf course at no cost, if we would maintain and operate it . The Chancellor at that time , passed on the deal although the analysis showed it could pay for itself and provide educational opportunities in several areas. Good decision or bad decision? I don’t know but it was an opportunity to give our teams a huge advantage.

Most “good” programs have their own course and use it for educational purposes (turf management, etc). Also give students discount rates. We should have jumped all over that deal.Stonewall wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 8:06 amPlausible. If someone or group is bankrolling the team I could see that as the determining factor. I hope it was not Peacock, that doesn’t seem like a move he would have made from a business standpoint.Stonewall wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 8:39 pmIt was not.AppinVA wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 6:33 pmSounds like a Bork move.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 6:01 pmMost “good” programs have their own course and use it for educational purposes (turf management, etc). Agreed...BeauFoster wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 2:43 pmIf we had the money to commit, we could be competitive. The Big10 teams make it work, but they put millions into facilities. We don’t have that and likely never will, so we can’t keep up with our southern foes.asumba95 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 6:19 amOur competitiveness is hurt by lack of commitment to facilities and the fact the teams have to travel off the mountain to practice November- March. Rest assured, the athletes on both the men’s/women’s teams represent our university with outstanding character and academic standards.
The facilities some of those programs have are more than impressive.
