Another 5 set win.

I would prefer not to have to come back but they were down 2-7 in the 5th set and went on a tear on the last set. It was a clear example of not losing one's head in the heat of the moment but playing their game and getting it done.

I started watching and things started to go south. Decided I wasn’t going to be the one to screw this up so I went out and finished mowing the yard. Boom!

I hope the coaching staff watches film and takes a good hard look in the mirror. #14, the setter transfer, has no business on the court. She can’t put up a ball for any hitter to hit and they lose any momentum they have the second she comes on the floor. That was ridiculous tonight.

Also, Chad’s behavior when they are losing where he just sits down and crosses his legs and arms, I don’t know what he expects to happen.

Not to say we could have won, but we had approximately 15 service errors and as you mentioned, could not set the ball in a good position to save our lives. #14 has good size, so it's surprising she's the setter, but I would agree that she's the weakest link there. You can't win with that many mistakes.

Ended up winning pretty easily, once they settled in, they took care of business. App takes Duke 3-1.

I came up today for the field hockey and volleyball combo.

The crowd at the VB was large and into it. I was a bit worried after the 3rd set but it was so much fun watching the women have a great first two sets and the 4th set started slow but they turned it around. I sat beside someone that comes to lots of App athletics. He drives from Greenville at that. Loves App State athletics. And an alumnus of ECU.

Go to the Field Hockey thread for comments about that match. Spoiler Alert: Come from behind win.

It’s amazing what can be done when we run a 5-1 with the best setter on the team! Glad we have some depth on the OH position. As good as Hutchens has been this season, she struggled tonight but the depth was able to overcome that with people stepping up. On another note, Duke is a very sad program to have some of the talented pieces that they have.

Beating a Power school is always good given the resource differences.

I was nervous after the 3rd set but the reality is that we dominated that match and even the 3rd set was close until the last few points. Like baseball and softball every point is earned and one can't burn the clock, but being up 23-18 in a set feels pretty comfortable more often than not. Comfortable for the fans, hopefully the athletes and staff still have the fire to win every point.
