Not gonna be a banner weekend, to say the least. Miserable, actually!

Women's soccer shutout 3-0 at Troy.
VB loses three matches in Chattanooga--making it 10 straight losses.
Longwood routs our FH team 4-1.
Longwood shuts out MSOC 2-0; our fourth scoreless match of six. Bloody awful!
Footballl lays an egg in front of a record home crowd. Many of 'em won't be back this season.
Only successes through Sat. night were M & W XC--both of whom won their meets.
WSOC gets another bite at the apple at Coastal Carolina Sun. at 1 PM, but...CCU has probably played a tougher schedule and already has a Sun Belt win...4-1 over stAte.

Of the athletic teams that complete against individual schools only WSOC has a winning record and theirs is just one game to the good.

Sadly, no longer. They were shut out 3-0 by CCU at Surfside. And FH got roughed up 5-1 by VCU.

I can't remember a more sobering weekend ever for our athletic program. It was a grim reminder of how much work remains to be done to help our teams become more successful. Outside of football, our Olympic sports teams have essentially been competing with the same Big South, SoCon and CAA teams as ever and losing--big. In the pre-season, I had what I thought were reasonably high hopes for men's and women's soccer--but both have been shut out of the scoring column in two of their last three matches. We can usually count on VB to help hold Yosef's rifle high, but not this fall.

Thank goodness for our men's and women's XC teams. Both of them are knocking at the door of national rankings. But for those two teams, we'd be *gulp* prospective bottom dwellers in most Sun Belt fall sports. (and a hybrid conf. in FH) It's still early, but geez...
