Jason O'Keefe's Apps face a stern test on the road tonite at #8 UNCC (11-2-1). The Apps (5-7-3) have played very well of late, but still have difficulty putting the ball in the net when they get it in the box.

Coach O'Keefe has this to say in this week's soccer alumni newsletter...

"We had a great string of games late in September and into October. We had a tough week with two Sun Belt conference losses at home to two tough teams in Coastal (2-1 in OT) and Ga State (1-0). We rebounded to finish out October with a great come from behind victory on the road at Campbell (2-1).

We begin November with everything to play for and two great opportunities ahead for us this week. We play tonight at #8 ranked UNCC. We then go to Statesboro, Ga. and play Georgia Southern in our last regular season Sun Belt game.

Tonight will be a great test for us to see where we match up and hopefully with a good showing can have some confidence going into the post season. We will see what we are made of tonight because Charlotte will through a lot of questions our way and I am excited to see how we answer them.

Saturday is a chance to have a level record in the league and position ourselves for a top 3 seed. The league is wide open and much improved with the addition of Coastal and a new coach down at Ga Southern. Ga. State and Hartwick are having good years so it is anyone's title this year with no clear cut favorite at the moment."

Great effort by the Apps against #5 Charlotte, who moved up three spots in the NSCAA national rankings based on last week's play. It's an especially good result considering that Charlotte is the soon-to-be-crowned regular season C-USA champ. This will be a ++ for O'Keefe's recruiting.

Up-next is Ga South. Do we ever owe those folks. More on that later.

This is a good result against a solid 49ers soccer program. Hopefully this will pay dividends for O'Keefe on the recruiting trail.
