I really like this hire. I hope our softball program can turn around under Coach Hoerner.

I got to meet Coach Hoerner at the legends gala tonight. First take for me from that brief interaction was that she'll do just fine.

500 wins is 500 wins, but I was interested in how it all broke down statistically over the years.

D1 Overall Record: 334-331 (50.3%)
GaT: 80-125 (39%)
CofC: 254-206 (62%)
D2 Record: 166-???
Total: 500 Wins

33% of her 500 wins were at Barry University. FWIW, I have never heard, seen, or known anyone associated with Barry University Softball. I looked it up so you wouldn't have to...it's located in Miami Shores, FL, and their student population is 3,996.

Head to Head with App State:
While at CofC she was 16-8 vs. App; however, she had a losing record of 4-5 vs. Shae Wesley from 2011-2013.

If you can't win in the center of the softball universe, then what statistic says this time will be the "yes, yes, yes" hire?

She is hired already, if you or your daughter do not want to play for her transfer.

As hard as it is to recruit quality players to Boone, it's equally as hard to recruit top coaching talent. This is an experienced hire and someone with a great knowledge of recruiting in the region. Instead of the "woe is me" attitude being shown by some of these players (and parents, obviously), why not adopt an "us against the world" mentality and stop making excuses? I'd be highly surprised that the lack of wins in recent years is entirely attributable to the coaching staff if you catch my drift.

This is absolutely one of the most slanted posts I have seen in a while.
While at CofC she was 16-8 vs. App; however, she had a losing record of 4-5 vs. Shae Wesley from 2011-2013. Really? She had a winning record against us period. We have a new coach who knows how to win and recruit for this part of the country.
Oh and by the way your statement about the " center of the softball universe" is ridiculous.
Welcome coach we look forward to a great future. This is a great place for coaches and players alike. APP STATE SOFTBALL IS ON THE RISE.

How often do we see "serial posters" here! Mostly parents with a child who doesnt get playing time, or had a run in with a coach......
Once a hire is made as Chaz said we need to get behind the coach. The critical analysis is moot. Her record is 0-0. Let it play out and support her and the team.

I agree. I've asked for the post to be deleted. I just knew several good candidates, and this isn't the forum for my comments. My apologies.

Certainly looks like a positive hire to me. This is one of many App varsity programs that need to upgrade now that App is FBS. Hopefully with this coach's experience recruiting and coaching in the region, App will see improvement. I would love to see both SB and BB competing near the top of the Belt. If she can just recruit a couple of stud pitchers, the program can turn around quickly.

Welcome to Boone Coach Hoerner!!!

She has power conference experience and has won at the mid major level. What else could we want for a program who has not won anything in a decade?

It should not be overlooked that several players and softball support staff members were included on the search committee that recommended Coach Hoerner to DG. That should speak for itself.

First assistant hired looks like a good one.
