The Apps (2-2-1) travel to W-S for a 7 pm match with the 2nd ranked Deacs. Wake has one of the most prolific offenses in the nation to date this season. The Deacs rank in a tie for first in the nation with 17 goals and holds the sole lead in both assists (22) and points (56). Wake returns most of the team that was the runner-up to Stanford for the 2016 College Cup (denoting the Division I soccer national championship).

The home side is off to a 4-1 start with the lone blemish on that record coming in a 2-1 OT loss to the Sun Belt's Georgia State Panthers in W-S.

The Apps are coming off of a disappointing OT home loss to the ambitious ETSU Bucs. The Bucs have "owned" the Apps of late.

After a hard-fought, scoreless first half, Wake has taken a 2-nil lead with 2 goals by wing forward Ema Twumasi within a two-minute streak.

I admit I don't know much about soccer. But for those who are more knowledgeable, would it be fair to say that it's tough to win when you get outshot 18-0?

In one word...yes!

First time since 2005 that Wake held a team without a shot for 90 minutes of play. Big OUCH!

It's interesting to note that the Seattle Sounders won the MLS cup without a shot on goal. They won in the PK shootout. Their opponent, Toronto, had 7 shots on goal and lost.
