We had the highest round of the day (tied with USA) even we shot better than we did yesterday.

I know these are good students and fine members of their communities, and support App after they graduate, but an indoor practice facility will not attract the top-talent that might otherwise be available to us. Conway versus Boone is a no brainier for a competitive golfer that aspires to be all they can be.

Anywhere east of the Mississippi and less than 3000 ft elevation will have better golf etc...... indoor facilities are meaningless and expensive. One a side note, does anyone know why younger folks were playing Boone Golf Club in heavy rain today?CVAPP wrote: ↑Mon Apr 23, 2018 5:39 pmI know these are good students and fine members of their communities, and support App after they graduate, but an indoor practice facility will not attract the top-talent that might otherwise be available to us. Re: SBC Men’s Golf Championship
Fair point on attracting talent, but I am speaking in terms of helping who we get to be as good as they can be. Looking at the statistics from this week’s men’s tourney shows that we can benefit from some short game practice.CVAPP wrote: ↑Mon Apr 23, 2018 5:39 pmI know these are good students and fine members of their communities, and support App after they graduate, but an indoor practice facility will not attract the top-talent that might otherwise be available to us. Re: SBC Men’s Golf Championship
Thru 9 holes on the final day, Apps have moved to 5th place, two strokes out of 4th on a 5 under par day thus far. Tripp Summerlin is in 2nd in the individual standings.

High School Match that was attempted to be played....it was eventually called off after 8 holes.

Re: SBC Men’s Golf Championship
All 5 App players a putting up good scores today, let's hope they keep it up. Tripp is 3 strokes out of the lead at the turn which is a stretch, but still possible to make up.
Perhaps even more difficult than baseball, Boone weather creates trouble for recruiting golf talent to the top of the mountain. I've a good friend who coaches one of the top high school golf teams in Texas and routinely has players recruited to top D1 programs (Georgia, Texas, etc.). I've asked about indoor facilities, and he said it's really not a factor in the decision making for most of his kids. Playing on a real course year around will shave more strokes off score than the best indoor facility.

Re: SBC Men’s Golf Championship
Appears we are tied for 4th now with GaSo. It would be nice to get in front on them on Golf since they have generally out performed up in this sport over the years.

Re: SBC Men’s Golf Championship
I have watched coverage on facebook of the tournament and although the commentator has said we are tied for 5th, two strokes out of 4th place for the past 20 minutes and have yet to see any App golfer. What's up with this?

Back nine struggles again. We were 5 under after the front nine, finished 2 over for the day.

Tripp finished in 2nd, pretty good showing for him!

Re: SBC Men’s Golf Championship
I am not sure it's applicable here, but I would think limited camera locations, tee times and groupings may have something to do with that. Tour coverage focuses on the leaders throughout their rounds and will switch to others during lulls, or show an almost live highlight of a spectacular shot by somebody not in the chase. 2 strokes out of 4th place is not coverage-worthy under any other circumstances.

If he finished in 2nd overall that's a tremendous accomplishment for a High Country golfer competing against Sun Belt competition.

Re: SBC Men’s Golf Championship
Tripp is having a great summer. Should be one of the favorites to win the conference tournament in the coming season.
