The Apps take on the ETenn Bucs of Dr. Lindsey Devine, their legendary, 250+ wins head coach. The Bucs (8-2) are off to a strong start with early season wins over Clemson, Duke and Tennessee to name a few. Devine returns a strong lineup from her 2017 NCAA Tourney team--a squad that's without question one of the strongest teams on the Mountaineers' schedule. The Bucs have already dispatched Coastal Carolina, one of the Sun Belt's 2018 favorites.

Tuesday’s match will be a 9/11 salute!

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2018) – The Bucs (8-2) will host rival Appalachian State (6-3) in a mountain matchup on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6:00 p.m. inside Brooks Gym. The team and staff will be wearing red, white, and blue tie-dyed shirts and will take a moment of silence to remember those who were affected by the tragic events that took place on Sept. 11, 2001.

LAST TIME OUT: ETSU had once again another successful preseason tournament going 2-1 on the weekend with wins over Coastal Carolina and Duke. Senior captains AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.) and Alyssa Kvarta (Crown Point, Ind.) were named to the Duke Invitational All-Tournament Team.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 58th meeting in program history. Both teams met in 2017, where the Bucs won 3-1. The Mountaineers hold a 40-17 all-time record against the Bucs.

A LOOK AT ETSU: The Bucs have been getting strong offensive production from Leah Clayton (Danville, Va.), AJ Lux, and Kaela Massey (Brentwood, Tenn.). Mariah McPartland (Boone, Iowa) and Braedyn Tutton (Courtice, Ontario) have added to the Bucs’ success providing both kills and blocks, as they both lead the team in blocking. Kvarta anchors the Bucs’ offense and receives many passes from libero Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia) and defensive specialist Hailey Aguilar (Chicago, Ill.). As a team, ETSU is out-hitting and out-blocking their opponents.

A LOOK AT APPALACHIAN STATE: The Mountaineers come into Tuesday’s match with a 6-3 overall record. Head coach Matt Ginipro enters his 12th season with the Mountaineers. They return three starters in Grace Morrison, Kara Spicer, and Lexi Kohut, while welcoming eight newcomers. Emma Longley and Kara Spicer lead the Mountaineers in kills. Spicer is also their leading blocker and Becky Porter is their main setter. They finished with a 12-20 overall record in 2017.[/img]
