Appalachian State University men's soccer (6-3-2, 0-0-1 SBC) returns to Sun Belt action on Saturday when it travels to Conway, S.C. for a 1 p.m. showdown against preseason Sun Belt favorites, Coastal Carolina (5-3), at CCU Soccer Stadium.

A Win for App State Would
- Give the Black and Gold its first Sun Belt win since 2016
- Improve the Mountaineers' record to 7-3-2
- Hand App its first win over CCU since 2011

About the Mountaineers
App State is coming off a narrow 1-0 defeat to UAB on Wednesday. Both teams had six shots on goal with eight attempts, but the difference was UAB's goal in the 87th minute of the contest to pull away for the win. Charlie Baird posted a career-high three shots on goal with four shot attempts. Jake Chasteen had a stellar streak of 329 minutes without allowing a goal. It was Appalachian's first game this season it hasn't scored when attempting five or more shots on goal. Nine different players have scored with Camden Holbrook leading the way with five scores, while Ian Bennett and Zeiko Harris each have two scores. Holbrook and Bennett have 11 and 6 points, respectively, to lead the Black and Gold.

Scouting Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers defeated USC Upstate, 5-1, in their most recent matchup following back-to-back losses to Portland and Maryland. The Chanticleers are 2-2 at home this season. Yazeed Mathews and Tsiki Ntsabeleng lead the CCU offense with three goals and nine points. Chris Dattallo has eight starts in the net with .769 save percentage and a 1.55 goals against average.

Series History
App State is 1-3-1 in five matches against Coastal Carolina. The Mountaineers' last victory against CCU came in 2011. Last season, App fell to the then-No. 24 Chanticleers.
