Sunday WSOC/MSOC Twin Bill: Ocular Melanoma Awareness Day at Ted Mack/App State Soccer Stadium

WSOC 4 PM: UNC-A @ App...Ted Mack

MSOC 7 PM: Loyola of Maryland @ App...Ted Mack

These two matches are being played in recognition of Julie O'Keefe (Mrs. Jason O'Keefe) and her courageous fight against Ocular Melanoma (OM).

Ocular melanoma (melanoma in or around the eye) is a very rare and very serious type of cancer that develops in the cells that produce pigment. Pigment is the substance that gives color to your skin, hair and eyes. Just as you can develop melanoma on your skin, you can also develop it inside your eye or on your conjunctiva. The survival rate for OM is significantly increased with early diagnosis and aggressive treatment.

App Women's Soccer just uncorked a Labor Day celebration with 6-0 knockout of UNC-A at Ted Mack. Congrats to Coach Strickland and the App lady strikers. That was convincing enuff!

That's impressive with all we've got out from injury. We're playing true freshmen that would have had more time to mature in the college game. Congratulations all 'round!

App MSOC and defending back-2-back Patriot League champs (and favorites to make it three in a row) are nil-nil after the first 45. Stats are very level so far.

With just over 4 min to play, Apps lead 2-1. LU-M is rushing the goal. Visitors not in a panic yet--but concerned.

Apps 2, Loyola 1 Final! Loyola got very chippy after they fell behind--resulting in three yellow cards. Apps kept their composure. Quality win for the good guys!
