Great to see 4-0! We catch App field hockey whenever they play in our area - Longwood, Richmond, VCU, or on ESPN+ (none of our home games are on there this season, sadly). I have felt for a few years that they were trending in the right direction.
One of App's players is an alum of my daughters' youth field hockey club and my girls are going field hockey camping next summer at App! I can't wait to spend some extended time (more than 2 nights) in Boone again.

Back when they played at KBS they would stream the games on the App State athletic website. A shame that can not be done now. They are on a role that has not happened in over 20 years (winning 5 in a row.)

Now 6-0 with OT win over Lock Haven moments ago. Next weekend #1 ranked UNC coming to Boone.

Actually, I believe we are 6-0 counting today's 1-0 overtime win over Lock Haven.

UNC is a Sunday 1 PM game. No reason folks could not be in person for the football game Saturday and the field hockey game Sunday.

I remember on the previous message board on Delphi and maybe on this board when it first started there was a lot of talk about just dropping the sport for WLAX. So nice to see this turn around on the field. Their academics have always been top notch.

It would be nice to see App beat the Heels twice in one weekend. But the FH game isn't on ESPN+ and can't make either game.
Also, the FH ladies are gonna have their hands full. I watched the #1 UNC v #5 Princeton season opener on ESPN+ with my hockey girls. UNC is very good! They are the #1 ranked defending national champs for a reason.

Yes, I hit up the NCAA page for FH earlier today. UNC-CH has #1 in polls and RPI at the end of the year and won the tourney. I assume they have been #1 all this year. RPI is too early as it has not been posted yet.
The ACC is one of the top two FH conferences in the country and likely the best overall. They seem to either have a school in the championship game almost every year.
For future planning the field hockey national championship is in Winston-Salem this year. I'll be there is we get that far. First up is a MAC win over Ohio this Friday to start the conference play.

Yes, UNC has been #1 in the NFHCA (Coaches') poll all season.
Regarding the ACC's FH strength. I believe most of the ACC programs are in the Top25 of that poll. Duke, UVA, Louisville, BC, Syracuse and Wake are in there as well. I'm not sure who else fields a FH team in that league, but I think is all of them. Of course, a field hockey Top 25 poll includes about 1/3 of all D1 teams. Beating Ohio and playing UNC close could get our ladies into the poll.
