MSOC: Apps @ Ga Sou 7 PM Tonite ESPN+

A key #Fun Belt soccer contest is scheduled for this evening as the Apps attempt to beat the Eagles for the first time since 2011. Our current freshmen were in the sixth grade the last time App men's soccer downed the Eagles. Every streak eventually comes to an end. Perhaps the Apps can get heavy-weight the off their backs tonight in The 'Boro.

The good guys posted their 10th win on the season Tuesday night, taking down North Carolina, 1-0, in Chapel Hill thanks to Alex Hernandez's goal on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute. The App State defense took over from there, shutting down the North Carolina offense for its seventh shutout on the year. Mountaineer goalkeeper Jacob Madden made one save on the night and moves to 10-4-1 on the season.

Sun Belt Standings

App State currently sits at the top of the Sun Belt standings with a 2-1-0 record, along with Central Arkansas and Howard. The Mountaineers also have the best overall record at 10-4-1. Goalkeeper Jacob Madden currently leads the league in goals against average with a 1.078, allowing just 16 goals in 1,335 minutes.

National Rankings

Madden's seven shutouts are good for 11th nationally, and the team's shutout percentage of .467 sits at 27th. The Mountaineers save percentage of .765 also ranks 48th nationally. Offensively, Camden Holbrook's three game-winning goals ranks 34th in the NCAA.

Scouting Georgia Southern

The Eagles enter Saturday's match with a record of 6-7-2, coming off a 3-0 loss at Howard last Sunday. Sophomore Adam Davie is leading the team in goals (7) and assists (4). Goalkeeper Jose Eduardo Bomfim has started nine of the Eagles games this season, posting a save percentage of .736, but has failed to keep a shutout this year.

In all honesty, the Eagles are having an up & down season for them. That means nothing tonight. They're playing our Mountaineers at home on their Senior Night. Que sera, sera!
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!
