Our Volleball Apps finally get to kick off their season tomorrow at 11 AM as South Alabama will be in The High Country on their second road trip of the Covid-19 abbreviated season. The 11 AM match on Friday will not be streamed but ESPN+ will carry Friday evening's 6 PM match as well as Saturday's 1 PM match.

This will be the first competition of the season for Matt Ginipro's Apps. He returns 15 seasoned players from last season along with four freshmen.

South Alabama enters play with a 1-5 overall record on the season and a 1-1 mark in conference play, after splitting a pair of matches at Troy last weekend.

Spectators at each match this weekend will be limited to 25 people and will consist of families of players only.

The Apps were victims of a 3-0 USA Jag sweep earlier today in their first action of 2020. USA seemed to be in mid-season form.

Match #2 of the day will be served up at 6 PM. It will be streamed on ESPN+.

USA has a significant height advantage over the Apps. Their outside hitters and middle blockers range from 6-0 to 6-5. They're playin' over our heads--in the literal sense.

Apps fall 0-3 to the Jags.

South Alabama goes for the weekend sweep at 1PM; while the Apps will look for a way to mitigate the Jags height advantage.

This young App team has some fight in them. It's a shame they didn't play their first match until mid-October. They'll have to play catch-up in games that count in the standings. The play-by-play announcer mentioned that they played this weekend down four players. No reason given...whether continued Covid-19 issues or injuries or??? There are 19 on the roster but just 12 played today. You wouldn't expect all to play who dressed, but...

Lexi Kohut is back this season and playing well as our go-to outside hitter...now with a knee brace. Watch out for a freshman outside hitter...Madison Baldridge!
