WSOC at HPU for 7 PM KO

Unread post by asu66 » Sun Sep 15, 2013 5:17 pm

ASU's lady strikers return to play after a nine day respite to take on the Lady Panthers of HPU in High Point at 7 PM tonite. The Apps (3-2-0) have not played since shutting out UNC-A by a 2- nil count on Thursday, September 5th. They'll need to get the rust off early against a High Point side that is 0-5-0 and hopeful of getting its first win on the season in front of the home crowd. The Panthers last played on Friday night--suffering a 4 - 1 road loss to the Navy Midshipmen in Annapolis.

ASU leads the short series between the two programs 2-1-0. but the one loss to the Panthers came last season at Ted Mackorell Field. It was an own-goal that did the Apps in. They will look to take advantage of a veteran HPU side off to a rough start. Through 5 matches, the Panthers have been out-scored 23 to 3.

Second half now underway; score still 1 - nil ASU in the 54th minute. Apps have amped-up their attack on the HPU goal.

HPU knots the score at 1 - 1 on a penalty kick in the 84th minute. Under three minutes remain in regulation. :x

HPU scores in 109th minute to take a 2 - 1 win in double OT. Big ouch to lose to a previously winless team, previously outscored 23-3. :(

Thanks for the updates cp. I've got my hands full with some other things right now so I appreciate you letting us know. That STINGS a bunch. Seems like we're playing to the level of our competition this year in a lot of things.
