Our Lady Apps dropped a hard-fought, five set match to in-state rival ECU on Friday night in their own Black & Gold Challenge Tourney in VG. The Pirates took the back and forth battle with a 17-15 win in the fifth set. Both teams walked away with a 7 - 5 record on the season.

This afternoon, the Apps downed UTexas-Arlington 3 - 1 and moved to 8 - 5 on the season.

In the last match of the day, the Apps are tied with UDenver at 1 set each as of 8:15 PM.

ASU and Denver are now tied at 2 -2; deciding fifth set about to get under way. Apps have to be dead on their feet...three matches in two days...including two five set matches. A win here would be great for this young team.

The Apps maintained the momentum heading into the final set, which proved to be toe-to-toe all the way. A service ace, courtesy of Corrigan, would put Appalachian at a 13-11 advantage, forcing Denver to call a timeout. A kill from Muhle would keep the Pioneers in the game (13-12), but ultimately a pair of errors would cost them the match, giving Appalachian the 15-13 set and the overall victory.
