MSOC falls in conference rankings

Our men's strikers (2-3-6, 0-2-1), just one week from making the NSCAA South Region Top Ten, suddenly find themselves next to last in SoCon standings. They are presently only percentage points ahead of last place Ga South.

Our guys have a tie (Furman) and two losses (Elon and UNCG) back-to-back-to-back. The two losses were decided by one goal each. So close, but sooooo far away.

Last night's match with UNC-G was a brawl with 32 foul calls and 6 yellow cards assessed. The Apps, trailing 2-1 late in the contest had a chance to even the score when F Harrison Delbridge was fouled in the box and awarded a penalty kick. Unfortunately, the UNC-G keeper guessed right and made a diving save.

That stretch including nationally ranked Furman (#15), nationally ranked Elon (#16) and UNC-G (likely to be ranked this week) was murder; but it's not over. Up next for the Apps is a Tuesday evening home match with league leading Wofford. The defending SoCon champion Terriers are coming off of a 2-1 OT win over #16 Elon on the road. It's not getting any easier.

If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!
