MSOC at Davidson: Winner avoids SoCon Cellar

Tonight's men's soccer match at Davidson is a battle to avoid the SoCon cellar between teams seemingly going in opposite directions. ASU's last game at NC State resulted in a lopsided 4-1 loss. In DC's last game, the Cats stopped Virginia Tech 2-1 in overtime.

None of that matters much now. The winner of the match gets a higher seed in the SoCon tourney. The loser will get the bottom seed and a tourney match with the top seed. That's a ticket for a quick tourney elimination.

On the Davidson pitch, it's now half-time. The score is nil-nil. Stats-wise, it appears the teams are evenly matched. Both App and DC have 4 shots on goal and both teams have been whistled for 5 fouls.

DC evens the score at 1-1 in the 55th minute...50 yard blast too the far post by DC's Jake Keator. 50 yard shot...why didn't our keeper see that one coming?

Davidson soph Valeriy Sviderskiy scored a golden goal in the 94th minute (overtime period) to gain the win; assuring ASU a dead last finish in the SoCon race. Our team finishes the regular season at a really disappointing 3-7-6 and an ugly 1-4-1 in the SoCon.
