ASU's Meghan Mahoney has earned back-to-back Southern Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the league office on Monday.
Mahoney finished last week's play with a total of 47 digs in six sets, for an average of 7.83 per set. The sophomore from Leawood, Kan. has played a crucial role in Appalachian's five game winning streak. Mahoney tallied a match high of 25 digs in the Mountaineers' sweep over Elon on Friday, before recording another match high of 22 digs in the three-set win over UNCG on Saturday.
This makes four DPOW awards for Mahoney this season. She currently ranks 8th in the nation in digs per set. Matt Ginipro is slowly building a strong team. They should be well-positioned for SunBelt play next season.
