Norpac East in trouble?

With Radford dropping field hockey and Longwood joining the MAC, it only leaves us, Liberty, and Davidson in the East.

I know its not a huge interest here, but I do wonder how it might affect App State field hockey.

Perfect time to dump FH and add Lacrosse. But wait, we just got a sizeable donation from a former FH player for the new field at State Farm.

Wouldn't Davidson's field hockey team be moving to the A10 with the rest of their teams. That leaves App State and Liberty.

Good point.

Perhaps we should get Davidson to talk to the A10 about parking our field hockey team there?

This.
Regardless of the donation, unless there is a clear path for field hockey, the net cost-benefit would seem to be to let field hockey go and find an alternative, like Lacrosse or something else. No disrespect intended for the field hockey team, but this is a financial decision based on what is the least cost approach for a women's sport team, IMO.

Women's Field Hockey at App State predates cardboard milk cartons and most paved roads in Watauga County. It's an Appalachian tradition that I doubt Chancellor Noren-Everts has the chops to cut. We might as well get over that idea now. It isn't going to happen. If one or more sports get cut from the athletic budget going forward--and that's almost a certainty--field hockey will have a black & gold veto. That's my opinion based on a lot of years of observation of the goings-on in the administration building and in the athletics suite. FH is one of the "untouchables" along with football and wrestling. CC tried his best to cut wrestling; up to and including essentially firing Paul Mance who, somewhat like Jerry Moore, was a legend on campus and in the collegiate wrestling world. That was another huge CC PR disaster. As we all know, wrestling was not cut. And isn't likely to be in our lifetimes.
