Settle, a midfielder headed to Appalachian State on a soccer scholarship, showed the kind of talent the Lady Mountaineers are eager for when she legged in a goal and provided an assist to secure overall match Most Valuable Player honors.

Two other future Apps -- Lindsay Kubrick (Ragsdale) and Lindsey Tully (Charlotte Catholic) -- also played exceptionally well.
Reports I heard from the boys game were less encouraging. Austin Stamey (T.C. Roberson) played on an overmatched West team that got dominated at midfield. Stamey's play was said to be overly physical without making much of a contribution.
