App State VB v. Radford 12:30 PM HCC

Unread post by asu66 » Fri Sep 12, 2014 9:34 pm

Here again is the best ticket in The High Country for Saturday afternoon; Radford (7-2) versus App State (9-0). ASU is fresh off of a straight set win over Sun Belt foe Ga State; while Radford is coming off of a five set, upset win over the previously unbeaten Maryland Terrapins.

I have no predictions except this should be an entertaining match. Both teams have height, excellent athletes, incredible vertical leaping ability, cat-like quickness and excellent coaching. Who wants it the most?

The Apps have by far the toughest road to the championship. After the strong Radford team, an embarrassed Maryland team awaits them at 7 PM.
Proud triple-degree App grad--Classes of '66, '70 and '81.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Do these volleyball tournaments end with a trophy and an official tourney winner or are they just ways to get some teams together, play round-robin with some lower travel costs? I find it interesting that this is both some sort of tournament and also serves as in-conference play for us and GaSt.

We host two of these tournys a year. Does our nice volleyball padded floor help get schools here? Do we pay the other schools or help with expenses? It cuts down on our travel but do we make money hosting these two events? I am always full of questions.

Apps win first set.

It is hard to watch VB right now given the other story on campus.
