The Texas State Bobcats will slink into HCC this evening to face a challenge from our Apps for first place in the Sun Belt Conf. volleyball standings. The 'Cats and the Apps are two of six SBC teams who remain unbeaten in conference play. Something has to give tonight. Tx State (8-7, 3-0 SBC) is on a four match win streak. The Apps (9-4, 2-0 SBC) have won five straight.
Bobcat head coach Karen Chisum will be the biggest star on the HCC floor tonight--as the winner of 811 games as head coach at her alma mater. Chisum is the sixth winningest active head coach in NCAA Division I volleyball. Her team, while not presently on a pace to be nationally ranked, should not be taken lightly. The 'Cats return with most of the players that played in the 2014 SBC championship game.
The Apps, perhaps one of ASU's best all-time teams, aren't exactly chopped liver. No fewer than five Mountaineers have, or soon will have, played their way into the ASU Volleyball Record Book.
