Appalachian's WSoc squad will play Sun Belt rival Georgia Southern on the home pitch tonite hoping to solidify its hold on the third seed in the upcoming conference tourney. The Mountaineers (8-5-3, 4-2-1 Sun Belt) are coming off a successful road trip to Louisiana last weekend. The Apps defeated UL Monroe last Friday, 2-0, behind Jane Cline's two goal performance.

Appalachian picked up three more Sun Belt points against UL Lafayette after Lindsey Tully's 85th minute header pushed the Mountaineers in front.

Georgia Southern enters the weekend with a 6-8-2 overall record and a 3-3-1 Sun Belt mark. The Eagles have dropped back-to-back 1-0 matches to Troy and South Alabama. Georgia Southern are led on offensive by Nora El-Shami who has nine goals and 12 assists this season. El-Shami leads the Sun Belt in points.

Georgia Southern leads the all-time series 15-12-1. The Apps fell to the Eagles in last year's Sun Belt Tournament, 2-0.

Sunday will be Senior Day for the Apps as they take on the Georgia State Panthers and honor the careers of graduating seniors Jenn Bass, Merlin Beckwith, Samantha Childress, Kebrina Keys, Jenni Loveless, Abbey Nolte, Megan Roberson, Carrie Taylor and Kate Ward. It will be ASU's largest graduating women's soccer class in recent memory.

If football was near the end of the year this would not work, but it is nice that we had a rivalry weekend against GaSo with FB, VB, MSoc, WSoc. all playing within 48 hours.
