Sun Belt screws App State at Volleyball awards

Unread post by T-Dog » Thu Nov 19, 2015 9:39 pm

App State almost cleaned up at the Sun Belt awards ceremony. Jess Keller was Offensive Player of the year and Keller, Emily Corrigan and Ashton Gregory were named first-team all-Sun Belt.

However, Paige Brown, the Sun Belt's leader in every setting category, was second-team behind Arkansas State' setter. Despite having 11.9 sets per set compared to 11.53 and EIGHT Sun Belt Setter of the Week awards compared to four, she didn't get the nod.

I'm amazed the Sun Belt let this happen. That's slap in the face to Paige and shows that the west-side paranoia in the Sun Belt is alive and well.

Paige deserved that award, no doubt, but I can imagine that the votes were close. I'm pleased, but amazed, that we got three first team selections. That's huge.
Proud triple-degree App grad--Classes of '66, '70 and '81.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!
