BTW, the App-Toledo game was on ESPNU replay Monday, 12-26......additional exposure.
I saw that graphic too. They had the Sun Belt record as 3-1. Maybe they are already not counting Idaho.

Keep in mind that the Sun Belt's reputation has largely been formed before we joined and we're still early in our FBS transition. The same goes for our hated former SoCon brethren from Statesboro, yes they had a down year but they will be back...too much history and tradition there unless their new coach is a total flop. We've already shown that we can not only compete with, but beat quality MAC and CUSA teams. No one can argue that we weren't competitive against Tennessee and should have won, an SEC power that most thought would be a blow out. I would love to see how we'd do against AAC upper tier teams, but my point is that with App and Georgia Southern coming in and New Mexico State and Idaho (this year was an aberration for Idaho) leaving the conference...well the Sun Belt's quality has improved. It's going to take some time for the college football world to pick up on that and of course we've got to do well against non-conference opponents, not just P5 schools but our peer G5 schools.

I saw one of the charts used at one of the halftime shows yesterday showing the Belt at 3-1 and it really angered me. Still they did mention the Belt which was good press.

If App has any hope of getting ranked, we need #23 Pitt and #19 Utah to lose today. The U plays #16 WVU today as well but can't decide what would help App more. Miami being ranked probably looks better but also takes a vacated slot leaving less room for App.
#25 Navy and #24 Temple have done their part to help our Mountaineers. We still need #20 LSU (v #13 UL) and #22 VT (v Ark) to lose. Thinking a #21 UT win over NEB helps the optics of App's schedule as it would be another top 25 team and keep the Cornhuskers from commanding a spot.
#18 Stanford beating UNC would most likely mean App would end up the highest rated team in NC even if we don't crack top 25.

I really can't see App being ranked no matter what happens.

Northwestern did their part, dropping Pitt and another ranked team to slip . . .

Another FCS school joining next year will add to the the time it takes but if we continue on the road we are on it will come.

The Sun Belt is now assured of the best bowl record among G5 schools.

Are you referencing Coastal Carolina, aka Coastal Cackalina, as the FCS school joining, bcoach?

We aren't going to be ranked. Doesn't matter what happens with the teams ahead of us; a 10-3 Sun Belt team with zero P5 wins simply isn't going to get that kind of consideration.

Not even in the coaches poll?
I realize there's little chance of cracking the CFP poll and when I made the post my brain must've been hung up on App's AP poll ranking in the ORV's section from earlier in the season.

See EastHallApp above. Just not going to happen with no P5 wins.

I'd like to be ranked 32nd in the poll (others receiving votes) or better. That would put us in the upper quartile of FBS. I believe we were 33rd last year.
I almost have to wake up from a dream discussing App's position in the FBS in our third year.

I know Saint...third year and 2 bowl wins, a conference championship...AND we're discussing how close we're gonna get to the top 25. Our team, coaching staff, administrators (DG comes to mind), and fans have a lot to be proud of. Might point out that the only reason there weren't 3 bowl appearances is because of the NCAA restriction of no bowls in first year up, because we had 7 wins that first year. Oh yeah, 4th in the nation in wins over the last 32 games...Cox rushing record, Sun Belt POYs...simply amazing. I'm so proud of our team and program!

Better opportunity to be ranked next season, just need to finish the job. Both P5 teams we play next season are beatable, particularly need to take care of Wake at home (no more of this Miami type crap!). In addition, need to finish the job with conference foes. If we can do this, I believe we will be ranked.

I hope we treat the Wake game like any other team that comes to the Rock. We don't need all the hype. We are playing them because we deserve to play them and not because it is a gift. They are not a team that commands we only come to them. They are a team that should come to us. No Hype.

Agreed. We hyped Miami up so much there was no way our guys could focus. No pep-rally's needed. Just beat Wake.
