Re: Old Watauga HS now App State property
So, if folks want to protect racing then the City shouldn't sell the track...OR....an organization representing racing should submit the highest bid for the track. If WSSU has reached an agreement with the city to purchase the track, I don't see what right the state assembly has to require them to allow the races to continue. Maybe I'm missing something here. I scanned the article pretty quickly but this seems like inappropriate meddling to me.

Gotta say it is hilarious how some of these threads get "off track"- no pun intended, well maybe intended. This one starts off with App purchase of high school property, then it leads to track removal (I think) which leads to color of track. Then the funny picture of I believe Bristol MSW which is of course black asphalt. That of course leads to Winston Salem State who plays inside a race track? Is that about right? Lol

That is the nice thing about a message board-we can take a tangent when desired.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2017 9:47 amGotta say it is hilarious how some of these threads get "off track"- no pun intended, well maybe intended. Yes! On more than one occasion I had to turn right out of the hotel and drive down to the next light to turn around and that even took forever. The need another light somewhere.

Well the only really important subject is removal of the track. If the track had been removed long ago we would have been able to recruit the players we wanted, won 3 national championships, moved to FBS and won 2 bowl games. But ooh no we had to leave the damn thing there and now look at where we are.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2017 9:47 amGotta say it is hilarious how some of these threads get "off track"- no pun intended, well maybe intended. Down with oval, rubberized field outlines.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Some day the track will be gone and someone will say "It was so nice when we had that track and the cheerleaders and plenty of room, and the players weren't crowded. The stadium seems to crowded now."

We see this issue differently, but well done.bcoach wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2017 12:27 pmWell the only really important subject is removal of the track. Track-haters can rest easy.
The North end-zone project necessitates the relocation of the track. The mock-ups of the proposed project show this (as does common sense). Track should have a new home by the time Owens is demolished.

Re: Old Watauga HS now App State property
I guess it's my lack of inferiority complex that has always hindered my ability to concern myself about the track being located in Conrad and now Kidd Brewer Stadium. If the track must go in the name of expansion I won't care, if it stays I will continue not to care.
Drink up! Hopefully you have a cup with ice, because some things really do matter.

I think it'd be cool once we remove the track to have something similar to Georgia's hedges where the track used to be. Maybe black eyed Susan's or Boulders or something.

Build a 10 to 16 foot wide concourse in front of the student seats that allows the lower stands and Miller Hill to exit without going under the stands.

Re: Old Watauga HS now App State property
I bet we get an announcement any day now that the track will be gone by kickoff 2018. It surely won't take another 2 years and they will have to work on it during the off-season. I bet they start as soon as this season ends?
